Our Shepherd

Rev. Charles Agbaza

Steadfast and daring in my refusal to accept mediocrity in ministry. who has become biblically nurtured and  Holy Spirit-led shepherd for over 47 years
I, Rev. Charles Agbaza, was born August 28, 1940 in the island town of Forcados (Delta State, Nigeria). I lived in Forcados for 15 years and completed primary school in 1955. I left Forcados this same year, following the passing into the glory of my father. Since these years, God’s apostolic calling has manifested in my life as evident in theI extraordinary vision, unconventional leadership I have developed through my work within the church. Prior to moving to the United States, I began my journey of Shephardship in Nigeria.

In the mid-1970s, I oversaw the only existing parish in the United States. This parish has become known as the headquarters of the celestial church in the USA. In 1980, I led the Celestial Church from its northeast Washington DC location to Gallatin Street, Hyattsville to Bladensburg, MD. At that time, the Church, with only 120 members, was guided by this pragmatic approach to ministry and a single theme “Have faith in God ” which I received by revelation. Over the years, the Church’s membership grew to have other parishes spread to other regions. Our parish, Washington Luli Parish, is now located at 8723 Ashwood Drive in Capitol Heights, MD with a population of over 300 worshippers.

I hold a B. A. degree in Business Management from Howard University and pastoral training from Beeson Divinity School, Alabama. My divinely given vision and Leadership in guiding the church has led to the purchase of the new sanctuary, which will allow the church to even grow the membership and accommodate more room for the ministries in the church – the youth & young adults, women, music, and children. I am married to Dr. and prophetess Edith C. Amobi-Agbaza, a financial educator. We are blessed with a number of children and grandchildren.

Washington Luli Parish, a parish I am privileged to shepherd, is a parish with a difference. I thank the good Lord for such a group of committed worshippers who have used their time, resources and talent for the progress of the church. The Parish accommodates cultural and ethnic interaction in our worship. We welcome all and encourage you to join us and showcase your blessings.
